Let Me Take this Moment to Whine

While everyone else is blogging about the dawning of 2009 and what this means in their lives, I would like to use my blog to complain about all the stupid little crap that bothered me yesterday.  With bullet points.

  • Couldn’t convince myself to get out of bed until a full half hour after I am technically supposed to be at work and a less than a half hour before the time I usually arrive at work.
  • Instead of getting ready quickly I had one of those mornings where you waste 15 minutes looking for everything that you need, which should be somewhere more obvious/logical.
  • On the subway someone sat down in the seat next to me so suddenly that they almost crushed my bag (I pulled it away in the nick of time) even though there were seats completely open in front of me.
  • At work they hadn’t emptied my trashcan (stuff in there from before the 4 day weekend (yes I was getting back to work after a 4 day weekend)) and meanwhile random people had thrown other stuff in my trashcan so it was completely full.
  • A faculty member and the office manager both tried to ask me for information before I had even finished booting up my computer, meanwhile my phone was ringing.
  • My Dept Head didn’t have the past due information that he had “promised” me would be in my inbox before I got to the office.  This is information that I then have to spend hours entering into online forms and submitting, then pushing through a long approval process so people get paid on time and don’t come to my office telling me they can’t pay their rent.
  • Walked to my favorite lunch place by my office, Picnic, to cheer myself up for lunch, but it was closed (only for that day).
  • (probably other stuff that I’ve forgotten)
  • Went to my first day of class ever for the MBA program.  Instantly liked the professor, only to find out he was just filling in for our regular professor for the first class or two.
  • Was severely daunted by the amount of work listed on the syllabus.
  • Discovered someone had stuck already-chewed gum under the desk and my skirt was stuck to it.
  • On the subway on the way home someone had a heart attack and the train was stopped for a while.  First, heart attack is sad and bad mojo, and second, was just annoying.
  • After the train started moving again they announced that after the next stop they were going to skip a whole bunch of stops, including mine.  Had to get out and transfer to the bus.
  • Went to the convenience store across from my apartment (instead of a different one that I was planning on going to and would have been on the way if I had taken the subway instead of the bus) and bought bread and cheese.  After I got all comfy in my PJs, I opened the cheese and discovered it had gone very bad, even though the sell-by date was fine.  Had to go back to the store to get a different cheese because I had no other food in my apartment.
  • Adam was in a bad mood too.
